Chicago City Hall: A Great Intro to the Official Seat of Government of Chicago

Chicago City Hall is the official seat of government located adjacent to Richard J Daley Center and James R Thompson Center. The building that houses Chicago City Hall is also the home offices of mayor, city clerk and city treasurer.

Designed by Holabird and Roche architectural firm, entrance of Chicago City Hall features four relief panels sculpted in granite. Each of these panels represents one of the four main concerns of city government. These concerns are playground, schools, parks and water supply.

If you are visiting Chicago City Hall, you would be surprised to notice that you are welcomed by elaborate marble stairways and bronze tablets honouring the past city halls of Chicago from 1837 to till date.

Renovations works are in progress and the first major renovation was undertaken in 1967 later in 2001, the roof gardens were put as a test for checking the impact of green roofs on heat island effect in urban areas.

The Chicago City Hall is completely devoted to different departments. On the west side of the building, you can find Chicago City council, while the east side (also referred to as country building) is devoted to different offices of Cook country.
