The Chinatown Chicago history dates back to the late 1870S when Chinese immigrants began arriving in the city as ex railroad workers who had faced discrimination in the western states. The population rose gradually in the 1950s and 1960s due to the communist revolution in china coupled with a relaxation of the immigration laws.
This led to the formation of Chinatown. By 1970, Chicago had the fourth largest Chinese population in American cities. At present, Chicago has the fourth largest Chinatown in USA. Check out your Chicago travel guide for more information on the neighborhood.
