What are the Rules and Regulations for Surfing in Chicago, IL
There are some rules and regulations which one has to follow before getting down in the sea for surfing in Chicago, IL. These rules have been set by the governing body of Chicago Park District.
Surfing in Chicago, IL is allowed in-season which is from Memorial Day to Labor Day at some specified beaches. During out-season, surfing is allowed at Osterman, Montrose Beach, 57th Beach and Rainbow beaches.
The surfers are not allowed in the active swim areas at any time. The lifeguards are always present on the beach for the safety of surfers and swimmers. The surfers need to first contact the lifeguards before getting down in the sea for surfing. However, there are no lifeguards during the off-season on the beaches.
It is recommended that surfers always use safety leashes and wear appropriate cold weather gear.
