Is there an army base in Chicago
Post in: Military Bases Chicago
Yes, there is. The Fort Dearborn is an army base in Chicago. It was named in the honour of Henry Dearborn and was built in the year 1803 on Chicago River by the American Army. However, the fort Dearborn failed to provide shelter to the troops during the war between Great Britain and United States.
The history of the fort goes back to the year 1812, when a war broke out between U.S and England; the government ordered Fort Dearborn to be closed for the settlers. Fort Dearborn was later rebuilt in 1816 after the war by the Americans.
