Savanna Army Depot near to Chicago in Illinois
The Savanna Army Depot is a primer military base near to Chicago in Illinois. It is under the supervision of the Congress and is closed under the Base Realignment and Closure Act.
It covered an area of 13,062 acres of land and was purchased by the United States Army. It was built in the year 1917 to provide a test facility for weapons which was developed at Rock Island Arsenal.
The Army is one of the military departments, among Navy and Air Force, which is composed of two components. They are: reserve components and active component.
