Which is the oldest bar in Chicago
Post in: Pubs & Beer Houses Chicago
The Schaller's Pump established in 1881 and acknowledged to be the oldest bar in Chicago is located at 3174 South Halsted Street represents two fundamental American traditions: baseball and politics.
Everything about the place is old school: the place, the neighborhoods 9Bridgeport, the staff (middle aged and prone to drinking and sitting on their shift), the clientele (South side) and the food (of the comfort variety). Schaller's serves a lively crowd of third and even fourth- generation regulars and makes a fine broiled top sirloin.
