The Chicago opera theater was founded in 1974 by Alan Stone to give the students a chance to perform. It started as an amateur effort and later got transformed into a professional venture.
The Chicago Opera Theater presents works in a fresh perspective. The works include new compositions by famous composers or Classical stories set in a modern background.

The Event Calendar of this year features one great special event that the tourists visiting Chicago cannot afford to miss. On August 12, 2010 the special event named "HIGH C'S ON THE HIGH SEAS" will be held, starting from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
The Opera will be held abroad Kanan Cruise on Lake Michigan and will feature soprano Nancy Gustafson and baritone Paul la Rosa. The show will be accompanied with fine wining and dining experience abroad the cruise.
The tickets are priced at $85-$100 per person. Members of the Opera Underground, on producing their ID are entitled to tickets worth $60.

Discounts on the ticket prices at other shows in the Chicago Opera Theater can be availed if bought in large numbers. The price of tickets may come down to as low as $50 per person and may include a free ticket for the group leader.

The Chicago Opera Theater has tie ups with certain companies that run a matching gifts program.
