Then have you got any outing plan for this weekend yet? Following the hot hit of Labor Day weekend, this week, Friday through Sunday, Chicago will present another spree to keep people zesty - the 22nd annual Festival de La Villita (which means Little Village in English)!
This festival will start on Friday, September 9 and last to Sunday, September 11, celebrating Mexico's independence from Spain. During this three-day celebration, at 26th Street and Kostner Avenue, in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago, an awesome gala of Mexican culture will be created, which is expected to be the premier outdoor festival in its kind in Midwest. Over 100 vendors from award-winning neighborhood restaurants will offer authentic Mexican cuisine, thus, this is also a big feast for your palates. Fun-filled music, activities, crafts and entertainment will be presented for kids.
In addition, TV or radio personalities will turn up at the festival as special guests! And for those who love dancing, there will be a fabulous dance pavilion, highlighting lessons for traditional as well as regional Mexican dancing.
On Sunday, the gorgeous festival will draw to the end with the vibrant Mexican Independence Parade on the 26th Street. This is the second largest parade in Chicago and one of the largest in its kind of Hispanic culture throughout the country! The parade will start at 3100 W 26th Street at 12pm and march west on the street towards Kostner Avenue.
