Originally known as the Lake Park, the Grant Park is a huge park that is ideally located in the community area of Loop in Chicago, Illinois for a nice Chicago travels. The most noteworthy features of the park include Buckingham Fountain, The Arts Institute of Chicago and the Millennium Park.

The park is also often refereed to as the front yard of Chicago. This beautiful park is specially bordered on north by the Randolph Street, on south by the Roosevelt Road, on east by the Lake Shore Drive and on west by the Michigan Avenue.

After the 1871 Great Fire, much debris was actually pushed into the Chicago Lake thereby contributing in filling the area which is popularly known as the Grant Park. At the very end of 19th C, various plans were crafted as to develop the garden and build huge commercial property and buildings in this park.

But as A. Montgomery Ward, a Chicago citizen wished this park to be the open space as decided in the year 1836, brought his plans forward to the court. After 20 years of struggle in the court, the citizen at last won this Grant Park case in the year 1911 and due to this, the park still serves to be an open space, providing a splendid sight on the buildings cliff on the Spearman.

The primary attraction of the Grant Park is surely the Clarence Buckingham Fountain that was commissioned in the year 1927 by the famous Kate Buckingham in order to honor the late Clarence Buckingham.

The style of this fountain is actually based on Bassin de Latome and was constructed by Edward H. Bennett. This fountain that features the central jet shoot water up to 46m can be best viewed at night time when it is beautifully animated with the computerized choreography with colorful spotlights.

The structure of the Grant Park is laid on the French parks that have geometric styles. it includes a wide range of bridges that cross the Rail tracks which are still found on the compound of the park. In the year 2001, the Grant Park was marvelously expanded to north with addition of 10 ha/24.5 acre huge Millennium Park.

The garden is bordered magnificently by the East Monroe Drive, East Randolph Street, North Columbus Drive and North Michigan Avenue replaces the desolate railway yard and enhances the entire neighborhood. This park also includes the music pavilion that can easily accommodate 14,000 visitors, a theatre and an ice rink that was constructed below the ground level.
