DuSable Museum of African American History being the nation's first and the oldest museums of its kind showcases several exhibits and feature pieces that highlights the role and experiences of African Americans throughout the US history. Chicano DuSable Museum features a permanent and a rich collection of books, documents, artifacts, manuscripts, rare books, films, recordings and civil rights memorabilia. Exhibition of current and past artifacts as well as collection of textiles from some of the regions in Africa can also be seen within the museum. Bibliographic files, archives of original documents and rooms filled with drawings, paintings and sculpture made by artistes such as Archibald Motley, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Charles White and Elizabeth Catlett among others are also housed within the museum.
