Parking must be taken into account when we are going out. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of parking lots at the museum campus. Parking spaces are ample in ordinary days. But days of Bear Home Games are totally another story. To start with, we'll share with you the four parking lots on the Museum Campus:

The North Garage: The garage offers 2500 underground parking spaces. It has two entrances. One is located on Museum Campus Drive and the other is on McFetridge Drive. The operating hours of the North Garage are 5:00 am - 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday. On weekends, it is opened 1 hour later. Parking rate is $16 for less than 4 hour and $19 for longer parking.

The Waldron Garage: The Waldron Garage offers 1500 convenient parking spaces. It's a double-deck garage. It's located just south of Soldier Field. Parking rate is also $16 for 4 hour or less and $19 for longer parking.

The Adler Lot: The Adler Lot is locate on Lynn White Drive just off of Solidarity Drive. It is open 5:00 am - 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday and 6:00 am - 5:00 pm on weekends. Parking rate is $16 for 4 hour or less and $19 for longer parking.

The East Museum Lot: The East Museum Lot's opening time is from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm daily. It is located just south of the Waldron Garage. Parking rates of this garage are the same with rates of others.

Notes: In each of the four lots, there will be designated handicapped parking. During special events, the traffic is quite busy and it can be challenging to get to those garages. So come as early as possible. The parking rates may change on special events days. A parking map is offered for your convenience:

If you have to attend the special events or watch the Bear home games, you might consider the public transportation or additional parking garages nearby. For public transportation, you can take CTA Orange, Red or Green lines. Get off the train at the Roosevelt stop. Then take CTA bus 146. The bus will stop across the street from the museum.

Additional parking nearby can really be helpful during major events. You might consider of the following ones:

Monroe Street Garage: This garage is located at 350 East Monroe Street. Monroe Street Garage can accommodate up to 3850 parking spaces. The entrance of this garage is on South Columbus Drive between Monroe Street and Randolph Street. Early Bird special rate of this garage is just $14. But you need to enter between 5-10 am and get out by 7:00 pm.

Grant Park North/South Garage: The north and south garages of Grant Park have a total of more than 3000 parking spaces. Entrances of the south garage are on South Michigan Avenue, between Congress Parkway and Jackson Street. And entrances of the north garage are on North Michigan Avenue, between Monroe Street and Randolph Street.

The Field Museum is located on Lakeshore drive next to Lake Michigan in Chicago. It is part of the scenic complex referred to as Museum Campus Chicago.

The Field Museum Chicago free days are offered every year. You can access the museum free for 52 days. The hours for the target free Mondays are from 9am to 5 pm. There are also other days that the museum opens its gates free to people. These are specified on the field museum website.
