Chicago Marina City is the two corn-cob shaped towers, a multifunctional complex, set on the north bank of the Chicago River. Each tower of the Marina City consists of 65 floors. The complex also includes the famous concert hall House of Blue, the Sax Hotel, several shops, three incredible restaurants Bin 36, Smith & Wollensky and Dick's Last Resort, and of course the small marina, the Marina City Dock on the Chicago River.
This amazing piece of modern urban architecture was designed by renowned architect Bertrand Goldberg in 1959. The entire structure of Marina City complex is made of reinforced concrete, the one of its kind at the time. The complex was built on a cantilevered platform set on the defunct railway track.
The 450 apartments on each Marina City Tower are converted into condominiums since 1977. Many of these condos are used for rental purpose as well. The bottom 19 floors of each tower are used as parking space, capable of accommodating around 896 vehicles. The top floors of the towers are 360o open-air roof decks offering awesome views of Chicago skyline.
Located at the State Street of Chicago, the Marina City is close to almost everything. All the attractive sites of Chicago are in walking distance. And with all facilities within Marina City is rightly called "a city within the city"
So, if you are moving to Chicago or planning to spend a long vacation with family in the city, try to rent a Marina City Condo. Or you can also stay at the wonderful Sax Hotel within the complex, or at any luxurious Chicago IL hotel located near the Marina City complex to avail all the fantastic facilities of the place.
