Shedd Aquarium
The Shedd Aquarium is recognized as the second largest aquarium in the world, flaunting its diversity with over 800 aquatic species and 325000 animals! Freshwater Rays, Frogfish, Penguins, Parrotfish, Beluga Whales and Anacondas are some of the many species that inhabit this massively sized octagonal dome.
The most observable exhibits that form the Shedd Aquarium are the Caribbean Reef, Wild Reef, Amazon Rising, Waters of the World and Oceanarium. The Caribbean Reef embodies an approximate of 70 species of aquatic wildlife, largely including sharks and stingrays.
Through glass windows and giant camera systems that have been set up throughout the 9000 gallon exhibit, the visitors can experience a breath-taking exploration of the aquatic world.
Oceanarium on the other hand, projects the aquatic world of the Pacific Northwest coast. Sea Otters, Seals and Pacific White-Sided Dolphins are only some of the Chicago travel attractions that contribute to an enthralling feel of being inside the aquarium.
This 3 million gallon sized section allows dolphins to boast their speeds and acrobatic performances to the audience. Red-eyed Tree Frogs can be seen performing their acts at the amphitheatre during shows and events.
Wild Reef is a perfect treat for shark lovers; it offers its visitors the closest shark encounters, and a high adrenaline boosting experience of maneuvering in the water alongside them.
Underwater gardens, iridescent corals and garden eels are indigenous to the Wild Reef while the lagoons, mangrove forest and fishing village furnish a picture perfect landscape sight to this exhibit.
The magnificently diversified Shedd Aquarium owes its charm particularly to the Amazon Rising - for being a bed to one-third of all living creatures. Portrayals of exoticness are nurtured by anacondas, piranhas, giant spiders and tiny toxic frogs that inhabit the still lakes and flooded treetops of this exhibit.
Amazon Rising is accustomed to quite drastic fluctuations in its rainfall pattern, and watching the flora and fauna conform to this climatic alteration is intriguing.
The Great Lake, along with many huge and tiny rivers scales Waters of the World's exquisiteness. One may swim across some amazing species like coral shrimps, giant octopus, blue iguanas, bluegills, sunfish, moon jellies and sea stars. The exhibit is also facilitated with map turtles, if the visitors lose track of their path.
The Shedd Aquarium is a perfect blend of inspiration, learning and entertainment. Not only is the aquarium a fun-driven spot for Chicago travel and tourism, but it also endeavours to provide vital information about the aquatic world to toddlers and adults.
Hope the best for your trip!
