Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art is a major destination of education, learning and entertainment for vacationers in the city. Your visit to the museum can take you through a large number of exhibitions, primarily the Alexander Calder Exhibition, on until the third week of October 2010. Alexander Calder is a major figure in the field of sculptures, who coined the word 'mobile' in sculpting. Calder is famous for his works using wires and other materials by which he worked on style of bringing life to sculpture.
With an entirely different approach towards sculpting, the Calder exhibition houses some of the best works from around the country and international borders. Most of the works include the unique works by artists of the stature of Jason Meadows, Jason Middlebrook and Aaron Curry. Other artists in the exhibition include Abraham Cruzvillegas, Martin Boyce, Nathan Carter and Kristi Lippire.
The works on show at the exhibitions include a considerable amount of influence of Calder, direct and indirect. The museum is open between 10 am and 5 pm on most days of the week. It remains closed on Mondays, but remains open till 8 pm Tuesdays. The usual holidays apply.
The museum houses a restaurant that is a brunch specialty called Puck's. It has similar timings as the museum, but closes at 3pm on Sundays. Plan your visit accordingly and you can experience a part of art you never have before. The museum is also a place housing other exhibitions in various art forms. Students can enter for 7 USD, while adults are charged 12 USD.
